Message for the children of the class

Filed under: Special Events — Miss Dillon @ 12:32 pm

I know not everyone in the class will see this so I’d appreciate it if you could pass on this message to the other children/ parents of children in the class.

I know we are all very disappointed that we could not show our nativity play to our families and the rest of the school today. I want to let you all know that we WILL put on the play after the Christmas holidays for both families and relatives as well as the other classes. We have worked very hard over the last few weeks so rest assured everyone will get the opportunity to see the children’s nativity play.

Update posted here later as to whether or not the school is open tomorrow 23rd. Thanks, Miss Dillon.

School closed tomorrow Wednesday 22nd December 21, 2010

Filed under: News — Miss Dillon @ 11:08 pm

Due to the heavy snow the school will be closed tomorrow. The nativity play will therefore not go ahead as planned. We will definitely put the play on for parents at some stage as I know how hard all the children have worked to learn their songs and lines (they should be very proud of themselves!) We will find out tomorrow whether the school will re-open on Thursday 23rd.

Parent contact numbers December 19, 2010

Filed under: News — Miss Dillon @ 3:21 pm

A few parents from the class have asked if it is possible to get a list of phone numbers of other parents. As it is a new class many parents may not have the contact numbers of other parents and would like to. I cannot give out numbers without your permission, so I am leaving a box outside the classroom door tomorrow Monday 20th and if you would like other parents in the class to have your phone number then please write it on a slip of paper and put it into the box. I will pass these numbers on to one of the parents in the class at the end of the day. Thanks.

Here’s our Christmas art work so far. We love Christmas in first class!

December writing

Filed under: Our Work — Miss Dillon @ 6:19 pm

Today the children wrote sentences based on a poster we are discussing in Gaeilge. They made up their own sentences about what they see in the poster (feicim…..) and what they don’t see (ní fheicim…). Here are some examples of the great work they did (from top left across: Scott, Cillian and Jack), (below Isabel and Zoe’s work) Well done!

Carol Service December 12, 2010

Filed under: Special Events — Miss Dillon @ 10:17 pm

The carol service will take place in the church on Wednesday 22nd December at 11:00am. The whole school will be in the church so arrive early to get seats! Certain areas up the front will be reserved for the classes and choir. Our class will be sitting on the altar as we are doing the nativity play. We are looking forward to it!

Nativity songs December 7, 2010

Filed under: Special Events — Miss Dillon @ 5:19 pm

We are busy practicing daily for the nativity play. When reading lines at home, practice reading slowly and loudly as there will be a lot of people in the church during the Carol Service! Here are the words to two of our three songs for the nativity, Three Kings.

Three kings long ago, made a journey so slow to see a baby fair.

From their camels on high, they looked at the sky, and a star was shining there.

Travelling, travelling, travelling on, Only a star to guide them along

Then in Bethlehem town, those three wise men found Lord Jesus in the hay.

And here is Little Donkey:

Little Donkey Little Donkey
On the dusty road
Got to keep on plodding onward
With your precious load
Been a long time little donkey
Through the winter’s night
Don’t give up now little donkey
Bethlehem’s in sight

Ring out those bells tonight

Bethlehem Bethlehem
Follow that star tonight

Bethlehem Bethlehem

Little Donkey Little Donkey had a heavy day.
Little donkey carry Mary safely on her way.

(repeat of 1st verse).

Angels, narrators and children without speaking lines are going to wear a large white shirt (man’s shirt) and I will have tinsel to wrap on the children’s heads. Please bring in the shirt in a bag with your childs name on it. Other costume information will be posted very soon!
