  • We have completed all addition and subtraction tables up to 10. For the month of June we will be revising them all. Please continue to use Times for Tables to quiz your child as part of homework.
  • We are continuing to read the book “Flat Stanley” this week. We are going to do a shorter version of “The Flat Stanley Project” which I will send out notes about later in the week.
  • This Wednesday we will do our Drumcondra Maths Tests.
  • On Friday our school sports day takes place! We are looking forward to it.

If you would like to have a short meeting with me to discuss your child’s progress before the end of the school year, please don’t hesitate to write a note in your son or daugher’s homework journal.

We had a wonderful day at Larchill Farm today! It was a great school tour-we saw lots of animals, heard some great stories, ran through the woods and played in a playground after lunch. Have a look at some pictures of our class:

This week we are working on… May 10, 2011

Filed under: Our Work — Miss Dillon @ 4:25 pm

We are busy bees this week!

  • ADJECTIVES! We are learning to identify adjectives in the books we are reading and we are trying to incorporate them in our writing. Perhaps you could quiz your child about any describing words on the page they read tonight or maybe from their sails book! We re-read the fantastic The Gruffalo and everyone stood when we heard a describing word-it was fun!
  • – 8 tables to be learned off by heart this week at home.
  • Story: The Little Humpback Bridge.
  • Patterns and the 100 square. Word problems- altogether means add… less than means subtract. Word problems are a tricky area and we’ll be concentrating on them a lot until June.
  • Teeth: looking after our teeth and keeping our diet healthy. After we read and discussed the functions of teeth and how to take care of them we tried out a few games on this site: http://www.colgate.com/app/Kids-World/US/Games-And-Activities.cvsp (We didn’t have much time in school to play this so I promised I would post the link here)
  • Continuing our drama on The Forest Child.
