Bernard brought in a huge map of China for us to see today. He also had some Yuan, which is Chinese money and that was really interesting to see. Bernard wrote this for the blog: China is a big place. They have different money. A lot of people live there. More people live in China than any other country in the world. Theres 1.3 billion people living there! Thanks to Bernard for bringing in the map and money.

Getting into the Halloween Spirit

Filed under: News,Special Events — Miss Dillon @ 5:50 pm

We are getting into the Halloween spirit this week! On Friday (22nd October) the children in first class may dress up for Halloween if they wish…if they don’t want to, just wear in your uniform as usual. There will be a cake sale in the GP hall on Friday and the whole class will have the opportunity to go down to the hall to buy a treat if they want to. Any cake donations are also appreciated. We are going to have a small class party on Friday afternoon and the children can bring in one extra treat if  they wish (or buy something in the GP hall alternatively).

Show and Tell. October 1, 2010

Filed under: Our Work — Miss Dillon @ 4:09 pm

We have had some great show and tell so far in first class. We may continue on the last Friday of each month and to be fair a different child can have a turn each month. Nobody has to bring in something for show and tell, it is completely optional and typically the children bring in something with an interesting story behind it. Today Eva and Conor brought in teddies that have been in their families for a very long time….

Conor’s teddy belonged to his dad and has clothes which his grandmother made! The teddy has travelled from New Zealand. Conor also brought in five New Zealand dollars which was very interesting.

Eva brought in a teddy that has been in her mum’s family for many years. She told us that the teddy used to have fur.

Thanks for bringing in such interesting toys Conor and Eva!
