Super writing in September! September 29, 2010

Our first month back in school is almost over! We have all settled into our new class and are enjoying first class so far. Here are some pictures of the fantastic writing the boys and girls have done this month:

We can’t fit everyones pictures into one post but during the year each child will see their written work displayed on the blog at least once so keep checking back 🙂

Busy at work… September 23, 2010

This week in History we were learning about personal timelines. Here is Karl’s very neat work…

Zoe brought in a project she did on deer…it was fantastic. Well done Zoe!

Library.

We went to the school library on Wednesday. Each child chose a book and they will read this book over the week. These books should be brought back into school next Wednesday so that the children can exchange them for a new book. Please mind the books as they are school property.

A good tip when choosing a new book is the five finger rule. Open the book on any page and start to read. Every time you come across a word that you can’t read, put up a finger. If there are more than five fingers up by the end of the page, then the book is a little difficult for you at the moment. Choose another book and come back to it later in the year!

This afternoon we drew our self-portraits. The children used lots of colours and the pictures make our classroom very colourful!

Happy Birthday to Sean Connick! Sean is seven today!

We are writing about ourselves this week so if each child wants to bring in a photograph they can and we will stick it onto the page which will displayed in the classroom. The children can bring these home later on in the year.

Homework.

This week we started getting homework. Each child has a homework journal and they write down their homework and any important notes in this. The children are getting one page of reading homework each night, two English spellings, three Maths tables and one piece of written work (either English or Maths work). Homework should not take longer than twenty minutes.
