Class news. November 19, 2010
Today we went to see a play called Dick Whittington. It was really funny and we all enjoyed it. Our visiting teacher, Miss Somani did painting with the class in the afternoon (we’ll have some pictures next week!)
Next week in Maths we are going to be looking at ordering numbers. Here is a nice game to practice if you wish: http://www.topmarks.co.uk/PlayPop.aspx?f=CaterpillarOrderingv4 (note to parents: choose 1-5, 1-10, 1-20 and the last number given within 10 and within 20 as the rest are probably unsuitable for first class).
Have a nice weekend!
Theme: clothes. November 17, 2010
We read some of the information on this website about clothes today but there was a lot and there were few activities which we did not get to do so I told the children Id post think the link here. If you click on the link you can read through the rest of it or play the game. Enjoy!
Nativity news. November 16, 2010
Our class are doing the Nativity Play next month! We are so excited but have a lot of work to do! Everyone who wanted to speak got a speaking part and I know the children are working hard learning their lines. Each child has a script with their lines highlighted. I appreciate your help in practising the lines with your child at home.
Science Week November 12, 2010
This week was science week and today the science exhibition took place in the GP hall. Our class topic was materials and change. We took turns going down to the hall to tell other classes about what we did. We also got the chance to look at everyone elses experiments…they were really interesting!
Earlier in the week we made rice krispy buns to test how a solid (chocolate) changes into a liquid when heated and back to a solid when cooled.
We also looked at the materials the Three Little Pigs used to build their houses. Eoin, Isabelle and Sean Connick drew great pictures for our chart. Faye, Sophie, Bernard, Mark and Conor helped to write about the materials used for each house (and why some were better than others!)
Jack did a fantastic project at home with his dad and he brought it into us today. He demonstrated how a circut works and we saw how he used the two wires to light the bulb. It was a brilliant project, thanks Jack for bringing it in to show the class.
